Success for EPS breed show 2024 at Exford
The Exmoor Pony Society Breed Show is one of the star attractions of the annual Exford Show. And while the morning of August 14 was overcast and drizzly, it was the ponies who shone.
The event brings registered Exmoor ponies from far and wide to Exford – and the very best of the breed vie for the ultimate accolade: supreme champion.
For the second year running, Bluebarn Nancy – owned by Julian Waters and David Hodge – won the supreme in hand award and supreme of show. From the same owners, the ridden champion was Blackthorn Poldark, ridden by Jessica Talbot, which qualifies for the Horse of the Year Show later this year. Reserve was Moonpenny Hati ridden and owned by Elizabeth Etchells.
Anchor Queen of Hearts was champion youngstock and Anchor Gretel was reserve supreme in hand and supreme champion moor breed in hand, both owned by David and Emma Wallace.
The ridden awards were presented by newly elected MP for Tiverton and Minehead, Rachel Gilmour. She said: “I have been so impressed by the Exmoor Pony Society for such a well-run event. It is the perfect complement to the Exford Show which has been such a pleasure to attend.
“Congratulations to all the owners and riders who have taken part for their hard work, and of course to these beautiful animals. They are an icon of this beautiful part of the world.”
