SE AREA MEET THE PONIES and GET TOGETHER

Saturday 21st January 2017
12.00 – Birling Gap, Nr Eastbourne, East Sussex BN20 0AB
In conjunction with Sussex Pony Grazing Trust, an opportunity to blow the cobwebs away and see the beautiful free living Exmoor ponies that are performing their conservation grazing duties in one of the most photographed iconic places in the UK. There are currently 35 ponies grazing on the Eastbourne downland on three different sites. The ponies originate from a variety of different moorland herds and this is a great opportunity to see the different types of ponies without having to drive to Exmoor.
At Birling Gap, there is a large National Trust car park, Pay and Display or free to National Trust members displaying a current NT sticker. There is also a lovely café where we can meet for coffee and chat before going to look for ponies. There is one herd grazing at Birling Gap and for people who don’t want to walk too far, if we are lucky, they will be visible from the car park or road. The other two herds are a five minute drive along the coast to Beachy Head. This is such a beautiful area and perfect opportunity for photographers. This is open to all and no charge but I will be shaking a donation box for the Sussex Pony Grazing Trust (charity).
I would appreciate an email or phone call if you intend to join us and I can reserve a table in the café for pre-walk refreshments.
