Exmoor Area Show success at Dunster
The Exmoor Pony Society is delighted to report on the success of the Exmoor Area Show, held as part of the Dunster Country Fair 2025. With perfect weather for showing – slightly overcast but dry, warming up later in the day – the event provided an ideal setting for showcasing the beauty and versatility of Exmoor ponies.
Despite the hard ground caused by a lack of rain, the show ran smoothly under the expert organisation of Exmoor Area Representative, Charlotte Matravers. A total of 13 ponies were presented before judge Mrs. Karen Logan, with Mrs. Amanda Hill serving as steward.
As always, the event was marked by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, bringing together pony enthusiasts and exhibitors alike. Following 14 well-contested classes, many of the ponies participated in a parade in the main ring. During the parade, Mr. Nigel Hill, ex-chairman and president-elect of the Exmoor Pony Society, provided an engaging commentary on the rich history of Exmoor ponies, much to the delight of the audience.

The Exmoor Pony Society extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants, as well as its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The Dunster Country Fair continues to be a wonderful platform for celebrating the heritage and excellence of Exmoor ponies, and this year’s show was no exception.
