A successful AGM and awards ceremony…

We enjoyed a hugely successful AGM on Saturday May 2nd, as we welcomed Nigel Hill as our new President. Outgoing President Ian Graham passed the baton to Nigel, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Chairman of the Society.

What a day it was! Members traveled from across the UK to join us for an inspiring programme that began with talks from equestrian author Victoria Eveleigh and herd owner Rex Milton, followed by Andrew Turner of Red Stag Safaris sharing his fascinating insights. The buzz of conversation during breaks showed just how passionate our community remains about these remarkable ponies.

The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly our awards ceremony, where we celebrated the dedication and achievements of breeders, owners and young handlers who work tirelessly to preserve and promote our beloved Exmoor ponies. This year held special significance as we presented our new Junior Performance Awards Trophy for the first time – a wonderful addition that recognises the vital role young people play in securing the breed’s future.

“It’s been an incredible first year organising the performance awards, and I’m thrilled to see such enthusiasm from our members,” said Megan Gillon, who coordinates the awards programme. “Being able to recognise junior achievement alongside our adult members shows how the Exmoor pony truly brings together all generations.”

As Nigel begins his tenure as President, the energy and commitment displayed at this year’s AGM bodes well for the future of our rare and precious breed. Here are all the deserving winners from this year’s awards…
